Opuntia chisosensis

Opuntia chisosensis

Opuntia chisosensis is from the Chisos Mountains in Texas. This plant originally came from Steve Brack in 1990s. These have taken -17F but they readily get damage below -5F. I suggest you protect these the first winter when we get extreme cold. By the second winter these will be large enough they wont be so touchy. These really like water compared to my native Opuntia. They can get large like Opuntia engelmannii and even have straw colored spines. Plants get cream to almost white colored flowers and are quite different color than typical opuntia. These are rarely offered. Offering single rooted pads growing 1 gallons, shipped bare-root. Probably be the only time I offer for years.
