Agave neomexicana Cloudcroft, NM 8000ft
Agave neomexicana has proven to be hardy in Colorado taking -22F on a few occasions. This particular form has been growing in our garden for 20+ years and bloomed several times. These have proven to get quite large, reaching 36" accross and 30" tall.
The original seed for these were collected from above Cloudcroft, NM, at an elevation of 8000ft growing on an eastern exposure with some pinus ponderosa. This area gets a lot of snow and there is a ski area nearby.
We share our experiences to help with your own trials of cold hardiness. We do not guarantee these plants in any garden or zone. Every garden is different and everyones growing conditions are different. Please try plants at your own risk, I do not want to be misleading to anyone.
