Echinocereus viridiflorus milleri
Echinocereus viridiflorus forma milleri comes from several hilltops in west Texas. This plant gets white/yellow spines. Plants start out with furry spines like E. viridiflorus neocappilus.
Plants have taken -11F for us with no problems in colorado. We are growing it in a well drained rock garden. Should be one of the more cold-hardy varieties of Green Pitaya.
I do not guarantee these in a zone 5 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
