Aloe x nobilis 'Golden-tooth Aloe'
Aloe x nobilis previosly Aloe nobilis. One of the easist to grow aloes. Most places say these are not frost hardy but we have found them to take 15F with no damage. This plant makes dense clumps and can reach 25" across and 15" tall. It gets bright red flowers that attract hummingbirds.
UPDATE: At 0F the plants had leaf-tip damage. This would be a plant I suggest to mulch as it seems to help. One other thing to note is that plants took some tip damage when temperatures went from 80F to the first freeze of the season which was 16F, but they did not die. This is really hard on plants, but with mulching or a good microclimate I think these could live in a colder garden.
I do not guarantee these in a zone 5/6/7 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
