Agave chrysantha Crown King, AZ

Agave chrysantha is a small growing species from central Arizona where it seems to love granite soils. Our seed was collected just east of Crown King, AZ. Plants exhibit traits of having banded leaves and silver color when mature. One of our favorite species. We have had a plant from this location in our garden for 15 years. Plants do like to be protected the first couple years but once established they have taken -17F many times. Our plants have been burned in early fall with huge temperature swings of 103F to 32F over night.
 
I do not guarantee these in a zone 5/6/7 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
