Agave palmeri Little Florida Mts, NM 6000ft
Agave palmeri is a fairly cold hardy century plant. Plants in our garden have taken -17F with leaf and tip damage. Plants grew out of it in a few months and got much larger. As the plants got larger the less damage they received but recenlty our winters have been very mild and the plants have really grown. The Little Florida Mts plants are smaller than the Arizona plants, only reaching 36" across and 36" tall. But easily one of the most beautiful species of Agave. This is one of the harder locations for us to get seed from so in return they are more difficult to provide.
I do not guarantee these in a zone 5/6/7 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
